This wine is all about texture - from its soft, velvety entry to the gentleness of the spice which pervades the cassis, back fruit and cedar flavour. Ample turned earth and tobacco leaf notes too. Beautifully layeared and harmonious with the fruit ideally supported and gramed by sympathetic oak. Nothing is overplayed or dominant. Refined and elegant throughout. This Viognier is a “Lady of Spice”. Perfumed with exotic aromas of jasmine, lavender, grapefruit and hints dried apricot and white peach that balms the air before the full bodied character is slowly revealed and supported by a linear balanced acidity. On the pallet is white peach and quince flavours and traces of creamy lemon butter, nutmeg, ginger and vanilla with a flinty mineral finish.This Viognier does well with all things surrounding the orient. It has a particular affinity with rosemary. 100% fermented in wood of which 56% was new and a split of 33% Hungarian oak and 67% French oak.

Lemon blossoms, wild daisies and fresh asparagus aromas first appear on the nose infused with nutmeg, butterscotch, white peach and pear aromas. The wine has an alluring bright gold colour with a beautiful, inviting nose filled with ripe tropical fruits along with peach, pear, kumquat and a hint of nettles and greengage – all on a backdrop of Botrytis. There is an intense concentration in the mouth with great balance of all components held together by keen acidity while fynbos honey, toasted nuts and caramel lingers in the background. Super now yet has many years of development to do. 100% Sémillon.

The wine is mysterious, unassuming and surrounded with finesse. The fine bubbles enhance the iodine-like minerality that reminds of fresh seaweeds and kelp, complemented by a rich biscuity allure. Yeasty flavours of freshly baked bread, lemon cream, Granny Smith and Pink Lady apples on the nose and hints of citrus, pineapple and kiwi fruit on the pallet. The wine has a brilliant colour – deep, dark, intense and bright. Aromas of concentrated dark plums with ripe red cherries and wild spices greet you on the nose along with subtle hints of cigar box. The palate is dense, structured and powerful. Firm fruit tannins are beautifully balanced by well integrated soft oak flavours which promise age-ability, and gives structure and length. Very well rounded and supported with a smooth, silky elegance and upfront flavours of juicy, savoury wild berry, plums, cocoa and red cherry with hints of cinnamon spice. 94% Shiraz, 3% Mourvedre, 3% Viognier.

Very bright, polished platinum with green, vivacious hue. Complex, appealing nose with pear, citrus and floral notes developing into lemon cream, oatmeal and marzipan richness. On the palate the wine is medium bodied and linear but retains generous focused citrus fruit flavours with sleek, balanced and crisp acidity. The wine remains vivacious and fresh on the finish with clean citrus fruit and stony minerality. The wine has a long, very pleasant lingering finish. Ageing potential of some 6 years in good cellar conditions.

Intense blackcurrant and plum fruit bolstered by refined tannins and fresh natural acidity. The palate is rich and dense with a wonderful lacy tannic structure. PINOT NOIR

Intense, vivid translucent youthful purple-ruby appearance. The wine shows pronounced lifted perfume on the nose with red berry fruit, musk, wild mushrooms and hints of savoury richness and spice and a clean vibrant minerality. On the palate there are very pure Pinot fruit flavours on entry with red cherry and musk flavours coupled with fresh acidity. The wine has layered complexity with great elegance and finesse. The 2009 Rubicon is one of the very best produced to date. A combination of almost perfect weather conditions and mature, healthy and properly sighted vines has ensured a classic, expressive Rubicon. Very deep, youthful colour, and intense almost purple hue. Very classic Rubicon nose withviolets, ripe plum, cedar wood and intense spiciness. Still young and still intense, promising further maturation potential. The palate is full bodied, structured but packed with fresh dark fruit and rounded, linear tannins. 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot.
